Welcome!

Rural Health Association of Tennessee's (RHA) Community Health Worker Training contains learning modules designed to prepare individuals to begin a career as a Community Health Worker (CHW) and/or gain new knowledge and skills in their existing role. Each module will cover various aspects of the CHW role, which can vary significantly depending on the employer. Key takeaways include:

  • Learn the responsibilities and ethical considerations of CHWs.
  • Develop skills to effectively engage with clients and communities.
  • Learn about the legal and ethical guidelines for frontline healthcare workers.
  • Understand teamwork within an integrated healthcare system.
  • Gain basic knowledge of common health conditions, their care, and prevention.
  • Learn the structure of healthcare organizations and how to collaborate effectively.
  • Create community profiles, support health assessments, and collaborate with community leaders and organizations.
  • Develop cultural sensitivity for diverse populations.
  • Learn to plan, develop, promote, fund, conduct, and evaluate community outreach programs and screenings.

Audience:Youth 16 and up; Adults exploring community-based healthcare careers.

Approximate Duration: Each module with corresponding activity run approximately 45-60 minutes.

To Complete the Course:

  • Complete lessons.Use the navigation menu or 'Continue Buttons' to advance through the training. 
  • Read the lesson materials.Learners must complete all activities and videos to receive credit.
