This module introduces the Community Health Workers (CHW) roles and responsibilities. The module focuses on personal and professional boundaries, legal and ethical guidelines, and the importance of self-care and personal safety.

Learning objectives:

  1. Integrate the CHW role and responsibilities into daily work activities.
  2. Exhibit positive workplace behaviors, attitudes, and personal safety practices. 
  3. Explain key legal requirements and ethical guidelines and how they impact the role and responsibilities of a CHW.
  4. Define “vulnerable population” and what it means to rural communities.
  5. Identify the limits of personal and professional boundaries.
  6. Incorporate self-care practices to strengthen abilities as a CHW.

Audience: Youth 16+; Adults exploring healthcare careers.
