Developed in partnership with the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy, this training and toolkit provides information about the prevenance of Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) in Tennessee, best practices in OUD prevention, and resources to implement prescription drug take-back activities locally, including:

  1. Hosting prescription drug take-back events
  2. Installing permanent collection sites in pharmacies
  3. Engaging communities in OUD prevention.

Audience: Pharmacies and other community-based organizations working to prevent opioid and substance use disorders.

Credit: This course is approved for 1.75 contact hours (0.175 CE) by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) from University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy. See the FAQ section for more details.

To obtain a certificate:

  • Begin the course. Click "Introduction" (below) to begin the training.
  • View lessons. For Continuing Education credit, learners must watch the videos in each lesson.
  • Read the lesson materials. For Continuing Education credit, learners must view each PDF in its entirety, (scroll to the bottom of each document).
  • Take the assessment. Take the 5-question assessment to complete the course.
  • Submit for Continuing Education. Learners will automatically receive a certificate of completion with all details needed to verify course completion. Please note an additional step is required to submit credit to the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy (see FAQ).

Certificates will also be available for download in the "My Account" section, under "My Certificates." 

Users may access and download the full Prescription Drug Take-Back Toolkit without completing the lessons by visiting the FAQ page or the "Other Resources" section.
